They’re Coming…
Adelaide is holding her breath, there is a collective stillness to the town, the clichéd calm before the storm. The city waits in anticipation, like a racehorse quivering before the gates open, the festivals, they’re coming.
It’s that time of the year again, where the smorgasbord of theatre, comedy, cabaret, music and art, entertains, confounds, confuses and delights Adelaideans and visitors. There is simply so much to see and do that at times choosing what you want to see, let alone finding the time to see the selection, seems impossible. Not to mention trying to satisfy your arts appetite while holding down a job, making sure you are kept in clean clothes and fed, and still finding the time to see your significant other/family/pet can be a juggling act.
But then again that is half the fun. For those glorious four weeks where summer blends into autumn, the festival circuit is a whirl and tumble of fun, friends and shows, as the Adelaide Fringe, the Adelaide Festival, Writer’s Week and Womadelaide make their presence known in South Australia.
This year the Adelaide ArtBeat team is back. Our team of social media savvy reviewers will be dipping in, tasting, reporting and sharing what we are experiencing. So stay tuned, keep an eye on blog and the twitter streams and we’ll let you know just how much festival one city can take.
