Bad Boys Of Musical Theatre – A Fine Bromance
For those of you who aren’t too familiar with the concept of bromance, this show is an excellent beginner’s lesson in the concept. A Fine Bromance lets us go behind the curtains of this amazing duo; showcasing their incredible talents & their artistic differences; All Cock, No Balls!
‘Balls out’ vocals make for an excellent experience, and the guys weren’t even mic’d up; their vocal talents come across excellently. The AV projections at first felt a little out of place to me (only because I wasn’t to sure what I was in for), but they hold excellent comedic value. You even get to see one of the boys is definitely packing some heat downstairs… or a couple of Explorer socks.
The content is humorous, delightfully crude & has just the right amount of camp delightfulness to keep anyone happy. Life(ish) size puppets, and drink swizzling dildos make for great pops and comedic interludes between songs. Musical accompaniment is good, no timing errors & I found the boys to be pretty slick. At moments its hard to tell if they’re breaking the fourth wall, or its all just scripted but either way its an enjoyable journey.
An excellent music video for their track Amazing (iTunes link) gets played out as well, its funny & wonderfully over auto-tuned. Its very funny. The boys voices are great, the comedy is mostly Hit, not miss and the lyrics of their tunes are fun & dark with an upbeat tune. Great show I’d enjoy seeing again; Anyone who can write a song about terminal illness being the best pick up lie to use, definitely deserves another visit.
The Bad Boys Of Musical Theatre – A Fine Bromance is playing Tuxedo Cat till 9th June 2012. Get to it!
