Harriett Allcroft is Barely Legal
Barely Legal is a light-hearted, frothy hour of good tunes featuring endearing hostess, Harriett Allcroft. Aged at just 18 (hence the title), she already has years of performance experience under her belt from working with the Australian Children’s Choir.
In this show, Harriett takes us through the milestones of her life thus far, punctuating with tunes from renowned artists such as Peter Allen, Dusty Springfield and Amy Winehouse.
Whilst a stellar singer with a great range, it is clear that Harriett is still very young. Her conversations with the audience were somewhat erratic; she often rambled. She does have a great sense of humour though, and is very self-deprecating and cheeky.
Accompanist Alex Wignall was impeccable, and was given the opportunity in this show to showcase his skills in a number of piano solos.
[Ed's Note - It's worth looking at Harriett's YouTube Channel, where she has posted vids of her previous gigs.]
I think in a couple of years, as Harriett matures as a performer and becomes more comfortable in a cabaret atmosphere, she’ll be an absolute cracker!
Barely Legal – worth checking out.
Another Cabaret Fringe show on at La Boheme until Wednesday 20 June. Tickets here.
